PicoScrum is Scrum for your iPhone. Use it to organize and track tasks for your personal projects, and to discover realistic end-dates as you work on them - all from your iPhone or iPod Touch!

What’s Scrum?

Scrum is a way to approach project management. Typically, the projects being managed are software development projects that are worked on by teams of people. Work is added to a Backlog, where it is prioritized by a Product Owner, estimated by the Team, and then broken into chunks of work called Sprints. Each Sprint is generally a fixed interval of time and usually falls between one and four weeks.

Why use it?

Working in this fashion helps teams to meet their goals. It’s very hard to see months down the road to a high level of precision. It’s not so hard to get a good handle on the next two weeks worth of work. Over time, the amount of work a team tends to get done in a Sprint - their Velocity - becomes a good way to predict the future. Rather than setting arbitrary deadlines that may not have any basis in reality, deadlines can be discovered.

How’s PicoScrum different?

PicoScrum is lightweight Scrum for the masses. Lightweight, because it removes some of the process overhead that you’re not going to need. For the masses, because it’s intended to be used for all kinds of projects, not just for software development.

Use PicoScrum to keep on schedule with your basement renovation, or to effectively split your time between a software development project, a project for school and some landscaping you need to complete. As you work, PicoScrum learns your actual Velocity, offers to reorganize your Sprints automatically over time, and even estimates when your projects will complete based on how quickly you work.
